Larry and I have been breeding and showing Yorkshire Terriers for many years now. Our children had grown and began new families of their own so we decided we needed to have a new family too.
The start came with our first pet Yorkie "Buddy", I went to a local dog show and saw the glamorous Yorkies on display and instantly fell head over heels. I then went on the great search of finding all the info I could on these precious little friends. I talked to all the show breeders and exhibitors, went to libraries and book stores, talked to my Vet finally I felt I was ready to begin. Kathy & Elvin Townsend, of Cranbrook BC entrusted us with our first Show Female, "Yorkland's Razzle Dazzle LD".
The start of our showing career, I took her on to her Canadian Championship, and was really hooked.
"Raz" became our foundation female for our breeding program. We acquired our foundation male from Peggy & Darryl Nygard, of Ft. Shaw, Montana, where we got Mariah's Messenger of Love II. "Cupid" went on to become a Canadian Champion also, and the LOVE of my heart. Our family had a beginning!
A lot has happened in the last many years and a lot has been learned, and one thing I know for sure there is always more to learn. My love for Yorkies has only increased over the years, and on these pages I wanted to share some of my memories and guidelines with you all. You will find some history and suggestions on training and raising a puppy through out this site, and hopefully they will be of assistance in making you new family members addition a pleasant and lasting relationship.
